Made for the occasions that matter.

Hand-engraved by a Mexican espuelero in Amozoc, Puebla. Each pair is its own.

Polished steel, hand-engraved in Greek-key blocks and flowing scrollwork that wind around the whole band.

One ribbon of engraving, wrapped end to end.

Amozoc, Puebla has made spurs by hand since 1559. The craft came from Moorish craftsmen in Spain, and it has lived in this one Mexican town for more than 450 years.

The Cascabel was made there.

The engraving doesn't stop at the edge of the band. It winds around it: Greek-key blocks and scroll panels take turns, set against a finely stippled ground, from one end of the band to the other. No bare metal.

Nothing here is stamped or machine-cut. Every key, scroll and fine dot is worked by hand.

The rowel is a star, and every point is cut with notched, feathered edges. Behind it sit two ornamental discs with stippled detail, and small pendants that move when you walk.

A solid band. You feel it as soon as you pick them up. Each spur weighs about 1 lb.

This is a one-off piece. We haven't seen another pair like it in a shop or online, and because every line is cut by hand, no second pair will match it.

Look closer and you'll see the hand that made them. No two lines run exactly the same. The Cascabel was shaped by a Mexican espuelero, and those small differences are what make your pair yours.

We have two pairs of the Cascabel.

  • Boot opening: 3 1/8"
  • Rowel: 2 3/4"
  • Width: 1 1/4"
  • Polished steel, hand-engraved with a wrapped Greek-key and scroll band and a star rowel
  • Each spur weighs about 1 lb
  • Made by hand in Amozoc, Puebla, Mexico

Handmade means yours may differ slightly from the photos. A small mark or an uneven line isn't a flaw, it's proof of the hand that made it. Straps not included.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Questions about our products, shipping and returns. Not here? Write to info@casadelcharro.com or call us at (310) 400-0118

Are they really handmade in Mexico?

Yes. Each pair is made in Mexico by an espuelero, a spur maker. The steel is shaped and the pattern is engraved by hand.

You can check it yourself. Look at the rowel. The points are not all the same length, and the gaps between them change as you go around. A file and a hammer leave that. A machine cuts every point the same.

It also means your pair will not match any other pair.

Will mine look exactly like the photos?

Close, but not the same. No two pairs are alike. A small mark or an uneven line is part of the handwork, not a flaw.

If your pair arrives damaged, or is not what you ordered, write to us and we will send a new one at our cost.

If a design sells out, will you make it again?

Are they sold as a pair?

Yes. One order is one pair. Each spur weighs about 6.6 oz.
